Duties of Advisory Board Members

  1. To mentor the Chief editors, through the Managing Editor on the best practices in the field of scholarly research and publishing.
  2. To offer wise counsel on the issues arising from the publications of articles in their journal.
  3. To suggest to the editor the conferences/workshops and symposia useful for them to attend.
  4. To offer strategic advice to the Managing Editor, which is escalated down to the Editorial Board members.
  5. To provide insights and ideas on how to make the journals more compliant to international standards.
  6. Any other help (advisory or otherwise) beneficial for the reputation and betterment of the scholarly world.

Prof. Vusi Gumede, PhD.

Professor of Economics and Policy Studies, University of South Africa (UNISA) and Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute. Previously an Associate Professor at the University of Johannesburg and University of Witwatersrand. He is Deputy President of the National Council of the South African Association of Political Studies. Distinguished Africanist Scholar at Cornell University and Yale World Fellow at Yale University, among others. He also holds an Honorary Professorship at the University of Cape Town. Editor-in-Chief for Africanus (Journal of Development Studies) and Africa Insight. Member of various Editorial Boards/Committees. Former Director of the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute. Former Chairman of Southern Africa Trust. Has led significant research projects (funded by the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (Codesria), Open Society Foundation (OSF), Trust Africa, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), International Labour Organization (ILO), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the National Research Foundation in South Africa, etc.). He has held consultancy projects with UNDP; Action Aid International; Ministry of Justice and Cohesion on Integration and Cohesion; Haramaya University, Ethiopia; Centre for Peace and Security Training (ACPST) under the auspices of the Institute for Security Studies (ISS); Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), and currently International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC).
